Discover the beauty of the Kauai's Royal Eastside. See Opaeka'a Falls, the Wailua river and Wailua ocean overlooks, the sacred Rudraska Tree Grove planted by the Hindu Monastery, and the various Heiaus (religious sites) that were built and still stand along the Wailua River. We will continue along in our cars through the inland rainforest to the Keahua Arborteum, perfect to relax and enjoy. Pack a picnic for after the tour at the Arborteum and enjoy the magnificance of the mountain views and the peace this place provides.

Above Kapaa, in Wailua, your guide will introduce you to the Keahua Arboretum and its many unique trees and plants including cinnamon trees and the Rainbow Eucalyptus tree grove seen in many Kauai photographs. Discover papyrus, avocado, mango trees, the Kauai endemic white Hibiscus, towering trees over 150 feet tall, even walk through a rain forest jungle if you'd like. Non-walkers can enjoy the beauty of the park at a covered picnic table.
After the tour, there can be the opportunity to play in a glorious rainforest river pool along the Keahau stream.

Hike Kuilau Ridge Trail to Panorama view

The rewards are great, and the views magnificent. The Kuilau Ridge trail is a moderate uphill hike of 640 feet on gradual incline. Songbirds, trees, lush raw beauty abounds. One of the best, easy to moderate hikes on Kauai with the best return. We go at your own pace, and there are photo opportunities at every turn. A wonderful hike in Kauai's inland forests with a naturalist guide who will introduce you to many aspects of the forests and ecology here.

Extended Kuilau Ridge Hike
We hike the Kuilau Ridge Trail to the plateau but after our rest and snack, we head on. We continue along multiple ridges, with deep vine covered valleys and drop offs on either side of the trail. We cross a wood bridge to enter the Molalepe trail. Here we are in a magical forest of moss, towering ferns and giant paper eucalyptus trees. At the Makaleha mountain overlook, we then head back. A dip in the Swimming Hole is included.

Sleeping Giant Mountain Hike
Up we hike 1000 feet to the "chin" of The Sleeping Giant - Nounou Mountain. It's a work out and the hardest trail we lead. Here we enter an enchanting grove of immense Cook Pines. Your guide will point out the many plants and tell stories of long ago. At the sheltered picnic area at the plateau we celebrate our accomplishment and enjoy the sweeping Pacific ocean and mountain vistas.

Coastal Path Tour

Discover a section of the Ke Ala Hele Makalea paved coastal path that hugs the turquoise Wailua ocean. Learn ocean safety awareness. Make a traditional Hawaiian green ti leaf lei if you like. See the City of Refuge Heiau, and where the first Polynesian settlers sailed back and forth from Tahiti. After the tour, you are back at a wonderful, protected lifeguarded beach for making sand castles and snorkeling with lots of fish! Ahhh!

This is a full day tour that can be any level of activity. At the start, your guide will listen to what you wish to do, and will design the day's tour. A popular activity is a stop at a road side fruit stand with the best apple bananas. When its lunch time, you'll follow the guides vehicle through the lush Wailua countryside dotted with horses and cows back to the coast. Kapaa town offers many good lunch spots. After lunch, it's another forest trail, forest pool dip, or sightseeing. It's your day, your adventure.6-7 Hours
