Most Popular Kuilau Ridge Trail Hike and Forest Pool Swim
People's favorite and our most popular tour. The rewards are great, the views magnificent and there's a chance to get to play and swim in a wonderful forest pool. The Kuilau Ridge trail is an uphill hike on a gradual slope and then back down on the return. In one mile, we ascend 1,000 feet as we hike on a wide forest trail with lush green valleys below. Beauty is everywhere, wind whistles and birds sing in the 100 foot tall eucalyptus trees. It's a nature lovers and photographers favorite. At the plateau vista, there's a sheltered picnic table to enjoy your snacks and relax. Here, sweeping vistas of Mount Waialeale, Makaleha mountains, and lush green valleys abound.
After the hike, we can cool off from our hike with a refreshing Forest Pool swim or dip. It's the end of a wonderful Kauai nature adventure. If you'd prefer, you can stroll and tour the beautiful and peaceful Keahua Aboretum. We recommend you bring a picnic lunch for a relaxing picnic here after the tour.

Kuilau Ridge and Molalepe Trail Hike
We hike the Kuilau Ridge Trail to the plateau but after our rest and snack, we head on. We continue along multiple ridges, with deep vine covered valleys and drop offs on either side of the trail. With more uphill climbs of 150 feet, we reach a wood bridge under over a tiny stream, lined with yellow gingers. This is the Molalepe trail. We enter a magical forest of moss, towering ferns and giant paper eucalyptus trees. Makaleha mountain comes in view with its lush green valley below and the sacred and threatened Ohia Lehua trees. There are muddy sections as this is a hike through a rainforest.

Sleeping Giant Mountain Hike
Up and up we hike 1000 feet with the furthest destination to the "chin" of The Sleeping Giant. It's a heart and lungs work out and the hardest trail we lead. About 20 minutes from the trailhead, we enter the quiet and majestic grove of Cook Pines that tower 150 feet above our heads. One section requires we scamper up with both hands to climb up a 4 foot boulder. Along the way, your guide will tell stories of the importance of this mountain to the Hawaiians and its legends. We reach the sheltered picnic area at the plateau of the state trail. Here we celebrate our accomplishment and enjoy the sweeping 360 degree ocean and mountain views: Kalalea mountain ( King Kong Peak), Mount Waieleele and beyond.
