Kuilau Ridge Hike
One of our favorites as the rewards are great, the views magnificent and it’s moderate up hill hike. In one mile, we ascend 1,000 feet as we hike on a wide forest trail with vast lush valleys below. We are in no rush and will take plenty of water breaks to rest and gaze at the mountain views. Enjoy the sight of ever present Mount Wai'ele'ele as we ascend. At the plateau vista, there's a sheltered picnic table to enjoy your snacks and relax. Here, sweeping vistas of Mount Wai'ele ele, Makaleha mountains, and lush green valleys abound.

Keahua Arboretum Tour
A delightful sightseeing or easy hiking tour at the picturesque Keahua Arboretum fronting the Keahua stream.
Deep in the rainforest there are flat gravel pathways and sheltered picnic tables that provide places to relax and enjoy a picnic snack or lunch you have brought. Your guide will show you cinnamon trees, passion fruit vines (Jamaican lilikoi), papyrus, and the often photographed Rainbow Eucalyptus trees. Hear stories of the Royalty that lived and played here.
This is a scene straight from Jurassic Park movie. Your guide will bring out the toy dinosaurs for some photo fun. This peaceful place is excellent for walking or short easy hiking. Eastside

Belly of The Sleeping Giant Hike
A fern-filled jungle hike with a gradual but steady elevation gain of just 400 feet. Native ferns, Hala trees, hau bush and strawberry gauva trees abound. At the scenic lookout and covered rest spot, enjoy sweeping views of Mount Wai'ele'ele, Wailua and the Kipu and Kalaheo mountan ranges. Like all our tours, you decide when you want to turn around. The first section has exposed roots, is muddy and slippery so is not suitable for all people. Eastside

Kuilau Ridge and Mololepe trail Hike
We hike the Kuilau Ridge Trail to the plateau but after our rest and snack, we hike another 1.5 hours or so. We continue along multiple ridges, with deep vine covered valleys and drop offs on either side of the trail. With more uphill climbs of 150 feet, we reach the Molalepe trail. We enter a magical forest of moss, towering ferns and giant paper eucalyptus trees. Makaleha mountain comes in view with its lush green valley below and the sacred and threatened Ohia Lehua trees. It can be muddy as this is a rainforest hike. Eastside

Sleeping Giant Mountain Hike
Up and up we hike 1000 feet with the furthest destination to the "chin" of The Sleeping Giant. It's a heart and lungs work out and the hardest trail we lead. About 20 minutes from the trailhead, we enter the quiet and majestic grove of Cook Pines that tower 150 feet above our heads. One section requires we scamper up with both hands to climb up a 4 foot boulder. Along the way, your guide will tell stories of the importance of this mountain to the Hawaiians and its legends. We reach the sheltered picnic area at the plateau of the state trail. Here we celebrate our accomplishment and enjoy the sweeping 360 degree ocean and mountain views: Kalalea mountain ( King Kong Peak), Mount Waieleele and beyond. Eastside

Forest stream Swim with minimal walking After a tour, it's time to play in a tropical rain forest pool along the Keahua stream. This beautiful stream flows through the Keahua Arboretum deep inland in Wailua. It's one of our favorite activities on Kauai. The refreshing stream has many pools to play in, and your guide will lead you to the one most suited for your group.
We will bring along water floats, and toy dinosaurs as this is a scene right out of Jurassic Park. Sheltered picnic tables dot the landscape to relax. While Kauai has hundreds of mountain streams, most are located in deep jungle and are hard to reach. This one is easy to access.
It’s a wet and wonderful Kauai experience that may be a highlight of your time here. Eastside
