Message in a Bottle Found!
Four years at sea, before message in the bottle washes ashore Kauai shore.
A Kauai woman found a message in a bottle that Island of Fyn resident ( an island off of Dennmark) Mads Gandar ( currently age 19) had set sail 200 nautical miles from Japan on July 26, 2004.
It took 4 years at sea before the message in the bottle washed upon Kauai's shore. The message in a bottle washed ashore on Kauai, Hawaii on January 30, 2008.
The very next day, Karen Tilley, the finder of the bottle, took the bottle ( unopened) to a deserted tropical isle beach on Kauai where the pilot for Gilligan Island was filmed in the sixties.
A few days later, with the help of high school teacher Mr. Cramer, a hammer and a pillow case, the bottle was smashed upon and the message retrieved in front of 50 Kapaa high school students. Immediate attempts were made by the high school students and Karen to reach Mads of Fyn by email, but his email was not current.
Today is Sept 13, 2011. Let us see how long it takes for Mads Gandar (Denmark, Island of Fyn) to discover that his message in a bottle did arrive to Kauai 4 years ago. It took 4 years at sea for it to come ashore and 4 years since it has been on Tour on Kauai!
I had just taken on a Kauai Eden Tour, ( four fun-loving Belgians a couple of weeks ago and they sent me their Pirate photos (under Photos), so this inspired me to create this and see if we can find Mads from the Island of Fyn, to tell him the news that his bottle had washed ashore and is now a famous message in a bottle!
